I have a theory that may be far fetched but I hadn't read it anywhere and I wanted to see whether people thought it was possible or not.
I think it's fair to say that Crookshanks is a very unusual cat. Much like Scabbers was a very unusual rat. We now know that Scabbers was an animagus (Peter Pettigrew). So I think it's fair to say that Crookshanks might be an animagus as well. The woman in the magical creatures pet store said he'd been there "ages" and no one had taken him. Do any of you think Crookshanks might be Regulus Black (Sirius' brother)? I know RB is suppose to be dead but the books never mention his body being found and everyone thought PP was dead and really he had disguised himself as a rat for 13 years. No one knows how RB died. They all just say that he was "most likely" killed by another death eater and not the "dark lord".
If Crookshanks is RB disguised then he may be helpful to Harry in Deathly Hallows. If he's not RB I still think there's something important about him and I wouldn't be surprised if he is important in some way during the last book. I'd like to hear what others think about this theory and if you've heard or read about it before let me know so I could read more about it. Thanks...
Crookshanks is a Kneazle. In J. K. Rowling's book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them she states that Crookshanks is a Kneazle (sp?). They are part cat and part some other creature with human intelligence. She has introduced many creatures from that book that help Harry along, like Aragog being able to speak. There is probably something in the Lexicon about it too. He is not an animagus.
Sirius definitively states that Regulus was murdered by Voldemort when he and Harry are looking at the Black family tree Ch. 6 OOP. Remus Lupin seems to know the details of Regulus Black's death too. At dinner in the Order of the Phoenix (OOP) he says that he is surprised Igor Karkaroff lasted as long as a year. That Regulus did not last that long when he crossed Voldemort. Regulus is dead.
I found these results of another Harry Potter quiz. Only 1/3 of readers think that Harry Potter is going to survive the Deathly Hallows! And almost half of everyone thinks there will be more Potter books.
